Description
For sale is a single Emerson Enhancement effect LED board. There are 24x 680nm LEDs and 24x 700nm LEDs in each strip. They have a voltage of 24V and use about 0.25 Amps. This yields roughly 6 watts total per board. Please do not hesitate to ask me any questions anytime! Best offer of .95 automatically accepted. You may return this board if it is in the exact same condition you received it and it is within 30 days, however if anything ever happens with the board even after that point, I will replace it with something equivalent, just message me first. Please save my information and I will make sure you are taken care of. I am more concerned with getting you to grow more plants!! Also DIY is an awesome experience which is why I'm even on here selling stuff. There are multiple drivers you can use to power this strip, one is the IP67 waterproof 24V 30w LED driver by Catiya. Another good driver is the Meanwell LPV-35-24 power supply which is a 35w, 24v ip67 power supply. You can also type in DC 24v 30W powersupply waterproof transformer driver or Waterproof universal power supply DC 24V 30w IP67 LED driver. This is if you want to power these boards completely separate from the other light sources you have in your room. Please note that those drivers will need a male replacement 2 prong electrical plug or a Leviton 2 prong male plug added to them to plug them into the outlet. You can use ebay or google to search for those. Or you can just use a 2 prong plug off of another cable that you don’t need anymore. I would recommend using screw on wire connectors or crimp connectors, or even solder and shrink tube to connect the male plug adapters to the driver. If you need any help determining how to do this please contact me and I will usually get back to you very quickly. If you are using other strips that I sell, you can run these red booster Emerson boards directly off the same 24v driver you are using for those 24v strips.
These boards are very good at providing deep red and far red and can possibly double the amount of resin that would normally be produced with regular LEDs or quantum boards. I highly recommend using one of these booster boards per 4 sq. ft. of grow area.
How does the Emerson effect work exactly? Well here is a brief history of how it was discovered:
Robert Emerson discovered the enhancement effect, which is a property of higher plant photosynthesis. The 680nm red light and 700nm far red light was shown that when combined provides a yield of photosynthesis that is greater than sum of the two separate wavelengths. This is because there is a cooperative interaction of these two photosystems in photosynthesis. This phenomena has been coined the Emerson effect and is demonstrated as the rate of photosynthesis increasing in chloroplasts that are exposed to 680nm and 700nm wavelengths. Anything above a 700nm wavelength is an insufficient source of energy to drive any part of photosynthesis. This drop in efficiency is called the red drop effect. The number of oxygen release per amount of light absorbed is called the quantum yield. Robert Emerson has found that the quantum yield has the highest number at 680nm and 700nm and has named the two photosystems in the red spectrum PS I aka P700 and PS II aka P680. P700 is where ferrodoxin is photoreduced and NADP is formed and is responsible for the production of ATP. P680 is where O2 evolution occurs. Most of the oxygen produced by a plant is via P680 splitting water molecules to replenish the electron it excited and passed along via the 680nm photon.
These are very important properties of photosynthesis and when boosted, will help create much more resin in the flowering stage.
