Vintage 1946 Slingerland Radio King WMP Gene Krupa 5-Piece Drum Outfit w/Throne

Open to International Bidders!! This No Reserve auction, is for a vintage 1946 Slingerland "Radio King" 5-piece drum set.
One of the unique aspects of this beautiful drum set is that the bass drum, snare drum, and canister throne all have matching aluminum "cloud" badges, which helps in dating this outfit, since these badges were only issued for a short period of time, 1944 to 1947.
All of the drums, including the canister throne are constructed out of three plies of wood ( mahogany/poplar/mahogany ) with the exception of the snare drum which is constructed out of a single ply of steam-bent maple. Sizes are: 14" deep x 26" wide bass drum, 16" deep x 16" wide floor tom, 9" deep x 13" wide tom-tom, 23" tall x 13" wide canister throne and finally, a 5-1/2" deep x 14" wide snare drum.
All of the pieces are factory wrapped in original Slingerland white marine pearl, as you can see from my pictures, each shell has aged and yellowed, especially the canister throne. You will find small cracks in the pearloid covering on every drum, after all, they are almost eighty years old!!
The 26" bass drum is factory equipped with twenty Radio King large streamlined sand-cast lug casings, 20 Slingerland T-rods & claws and two Slingerland maple bass drum hoops.
The 16" floor tom-tom is factory equipped with 16 Radio King streamlined sand-cast lugs, 16 Slingerland tension rods & hooks, two Radio King double-flanged "stick-chopper" hoops, three Slingerland floor tom leg brackets + 3 Slingerland straight floor tom legs and a single Slingerland muffler assembly.
The 13" tom-tom is factory equipped with 12 Radio King sand-cast lugs, 12 Slingerland tension rods & hooks, two Radio King double-flanged "stick-chopper" hoops, a single tom mounting bracket and two Slingerland internal muffler assemblies.
The 5-1/2 x 14" snare is factory equipped with eight Radio King sand-cast streamlined lug casings, 16 Slingerland tension rods, a Slingerland internal muffler assembly, two solid-brass Radio King "stick-chopper" hoops and a 3-point strainer with two snare bridge assemblies. A factory original set of Slingerland strap-on snare wires are included with the snare drum.
The canister throne did not come with this set. It was found in a dirt crawl space about ten years ago and it needed a number of internal repairs to make it structurally sound again. Also, the bottom wooden hoop was missing. A new one was installed along with a matching strip of white pearl inlay to match. The seat top material is not original and it is need of replacing.
A pair of Slingerland model # 727 "Giant" bass drum spurs are included along with a mini clip-style tom mounting bracket.
All of the metal parts on these drums are plated in showroom quality, highly polished nickel plate and they look magnificent and are free from cracking or warping.

The bass drum, mounted tom and floor tom all have calf skin heads mounted to them. Although the heads are fully playable and sound amazing I cannot guarantee that they won't crack or split with time and aging.
The snare drum is equipped with standard REMO drum heads.
